ECLIPSE CSL EGO

“Enriched with Carbon and Gold, the CSL is both striking and beautiful. From the seamless flow of the barrel and frame to the intricate detail and craftsmanship of the body. The new CSL is the epitome of class and performance with a distinctive pedigree and history that is only found in the SL mark”…

The CSL is all about the detail. Gold screws clamp the gold-detailed grips onto the new flush fitting and screwless frame. Gold Thumbwheel and Screw on the silky smooth, bushed and re-designed C-Lever Clamping Feed. Gold LPR Torpedo and Bolt Pin. The bespoke CSL POPS system with coded gold latch pin. All co-ordinated with that lustrous carbon fibre and gold threaded weave in the all-new SL Shaft 4 Barrel Tip.

The SL has always offered something a bit special. A bit “extra”, if you like. And this year is no exception.

The gold accenting lifts the general appearance of the CSL into another league. All of the stainless steel parts that could be colour-coded have been, also the grip badge and body badge carry a gold chrome finish in place of the silver chrome found on the standard Ego11.

But of course it is the new SL Shaft4 Barrel that takes the limelight. The gloss finished Carbon Fibre 14.5” and 16” tips contains a delicate gold weave, a polished gold collar, and ample porting. The backs have been stepped down a size in their range (now 0.681”, 0.685” and 0.689” bores) in order to better suit the current paint sizes around the globe. The threading and rear section use the same geometry as the Shaft4 Barrel with its increased control bore length, offering higher average velocity and improved consistency over the older Shaft SL barrels. Of course the internal bore is precision honed, as you would expect.

In order to make the most of the stunning detailing all of the CSL the colours for this year have been designed to complement the gold theme, picking up the colour in their accented parts, but each with their own unique combination of base and contrasting elements.

Mechanically the CSL is driven using the same solenoid with integrated Flow Control Devices as can be found on the Ego11. The Ego11 has altered perceptions on what is possible both in terms of adjustability and outright smoothness from a poppet platform. And the CSL is no different with the adjustable solenoid making it possible to dial in the marker for supreme spool valve rivalling smoothness or outright firepower at the twist of a control.

But in other areas around the marker it’s easy to spot where those improvements that you expect to see in an SL have been made. For example the F-F or Flush Fitting Frame. Take a look and you will see that there are no longer any unsightly screw heads at the rear of the frame or inside the trigger guard. Instead, the frame is attached using a single captured free-spinning screw at the rear, and on a discrete and hidden cam-hinge at the front. The result is quicker and easier disassembly, smoother lines and improved ergonomics.

The CSL will be shipping with the excellent Cure3+ bolt. But currently in the final stages of development we have an all-new Cure4 Bolt System. Developed with the intention to reduced stack clipping and bolt strike (where the paintball is damaged by the bolt accelerating forward and striking the stationary paintball) the new bolt includes a removable and replaceable cushioned tip. The tip is locked into position by the contoured bolt insert that is in turn held in place by the bolt pin. Complete disassembly requires no tools whatsoever. The Cure4 bolt will be made available free of charge to all CSL owners who register their marker (see inside CSL box for details).

Continuing the long tradition of the SL range, the CSL offers a multitude of options to the owner. Electronically there is the same option of Opto or Micro trigger actuation on the board, as well as magnetic and/or spring return on the trigger. The CSL also offers the option of both a High and Low Pressure exhaust valve system which allows you tailor the efficiency and feel even further. The HP valve guide gives increased efficiency while the LP guide delivers a more gentle blast of air to the back of the ball. There is also the inclusion of the standard Ego-shaped “S” style, as well as a brand new retro “Blade”-shaped, trigger. The options included as standard with every CSL mean that there should be a set-up to suit every taste without ever the need to purchase potentially flawed aftermarket parts.

And of course these days the options do not just stop at the hardware. Every CSL comes complete with a full E-Portal system, including software and link cables meaning that everything from the start-up splash screen to the software version can be adjusted and uploaded from a PC.

As you can see, there is little that has been left untouched on the New CSL. And after all, The devil is in the detail, as they say…

So here at ThisISPaintball.ca we decided that we would be silent for one full year from writing blog posts about paintball events, league updates, product reviews or new releases to show our concern over where the industry is heading and how the loss of the core values which paintball once held were really being throw to the side in the search for profits.

While there has not really been many of those issues disappear ThisISPaintball.ca is starting to create and share content again but will only be showcasing news from those companies which are building a healthy paintball industry and trying to showcase the local events which are really supporting true players which are keeping the industry afloat with buying & paying for their products.

Good luck to all teams & players in the 2011 season hopefully lessons can be noticed to the failures in the past few years in the paintball industry and adjustments made to make sure the sport keeps growing in the correct fashion without forgetting where the sport started off from.

Paintball Sports Promotions Is Teaming Up with Local and Regional RaceTo Leagues

Last month, the PSP announced its affiliation with six regional leagues forming the Unified National & Regional RaceTo Format. These affiliated leagues are working together to provide a consistent experience for players across leagues and divisions, as well as creating a universal player ranking in conjunction with the APPA that fits both the regional and national levels.

Now the PSP would like to announce a program for local leagues; the PSP Supporting League program.

PSP Supporting Leagues are committed to further establishing the RaceTo Format as the standard in tournament paintball. These leagues abide by PSP Rules (with minor modifications) and use the UCP Classification System in association with the APPA. The PSP assists Supporting Leagues with prize packages, league promotion and offer assistance with improving and establishing a solid reffing program. If you are a tournament operator who believes in promoting the RaceTo format and are interested in assistance with prizes as well as promoting your league, please email Camille Lemanski at camille@pspevents.com for more information on how you can become a 2010 PSP Supporting League.

Ground Zero Paintball pulled through with another successful paintball event once again, hosting the fifth event of the season in Gananoque, Ontario. Unbelievably, it was already here. This was the last event for your team to make the cut as the number one team in your division, the last chance at bringing home the medals, and the last shot at making NAX. We, the players, and spectators, witnessed it all. Everything from the tears and blood, to the joy and high feeling of accomplishment. It all comes in the package; hopefully you were fortunate enough to catch it all live.

Sometimes there is just too much to tell, or, you just don’t know where to kick the weekend’s story off from. So the best way to resolve this is by starting with congratulating all the teams who busted their buts this season in the trenches, and now have made it to the top. After all the hard work, dedication, money, and time put into this, they deserve one big round of applause.

CX4 team Whitby Rhino Rampage came first this season, winning the series title as the number one CX4 team in their division. They came through with a total of 225 points this season, along with Codrington Corrupted Youth in second place and Hamilton Havoc in third place. It was a tight division, packed with close matches all season long, but everybody did an amazing job. Congratulations boys, enjoy the prizes and super cool medals.

RXL team Woodstock Defiance came into the division with next to no Xball experience, other than being under the wing of Travis Kropf (ex. Shockwave Canada player). This was their first year as a real team together, gaining hundreds of war stories and hotel memories this season together as a team. They went through the drama together, and have now learned how to win together. Woodstock Defiance also accomplished their goal of winning an MXL spot in the league for next season. Congratulations on a job well done. Essex Supremacy led shortly behind in second place, as well as Joyceville Juveniles in third place. Hopefully everybody takes another shot at the title next season in 2010, where we’ll find more exciting matches and new winners.

Kitchener Recon came into MXL this season after winning their spot from RXL in 2008. They smashed their way through RXL, now absolutely obliterating anybody in their path in MXL. Recon has a point differential of plus 65, leaving the closest contender (Sudbury Union) in the dust with only plus 18. They not only blew the points off the score sheets, but also managed to win every single match, going undefeated this season. If that isn’t impressive enough, they also not only won a CXBL spot for next year, but an AXBL spot as well. Kitchener Recon competed in MXL up in the states as well, under the name of Bronx Hate. It just so happens that Bronx Hate went undefeated this season in the MXL division. This group of players definitely has something going for them, who knows what 2010 will bring. I believe I speak for them when I say thanks go out to their loyal coach Nelson Fonseca. Congrats also go out to Elmira Nemesis for coming in second place and Waterloo Wildcards for coming in third.

CXBL was an absolute, out of control, rollercoaster this season. Teams that were in the bottom seemed to somehow find their groove around the middle, and others who thought to have no worries, fell into the ground. Although, three particular teams seemed to always be in the same ball park. First up was Cambridge Raiders, the thought to be winning team this season. Next up was Kingston Criminal Factory, a team that was coming from experience, as well as the help from hired pros Bart Blonski and Pete Utschig. Finally was Toronto Rage, a well represented team who made some major pickups this season to perfect the roster. All three teams grinded out hard matches with one another, but the question remained, who would break through with the medals and move onto NAX? The answer was Toronto Rage. After Cambridge Raiders slipped last event, Toronto Rage seized all the open opportunities possible. Quick points in clutch times raised their point differential a ton, bringing them the medals and entitling them as the number one team in Central CXBL. Cambridge Raiders just fell short, coming in second. Kingston Criminal Factory remained in third with only a total of 10 points, compared to Rage and Raiders with 12. Amazing jobs everybody, but the action isn’t close to over yet. NAX is in less than a month, so I hope to see everybody there.

Special Thanks go out to all of our hosts for making this possible. Ground Zero, Flag Raiders, Soldier Gear, and Bingemans entertainment center all did a phenomenal job with the events. Special thanks also go out to BuyPBL, Draxxus, VForce, Smart Parts, Sup Air Ball, Canadian Tire, and FantasyPB for making any of this possible. The best event of the season is always saved for last; NAX is going to get hectic. The pressure is on and the teams demand 110% out of their players at this point. Stay tuned in and don’t miss a second of it with ThisIsPaintball.ca!

PSP Events proudly presents THE event of the year, the 2009 World Cup. The largest professional paintball tournament on the planet will debut at a new location this year, Fantasy of Flight, October 7th – 11th.

Home to over 40 rare and vintage aircraft, Fantasy of Flight is the world’s greatest aviation attraction. The facility offers a variety of guided tours including visits to their working restoration and maintenance areas. You can climb inside the cockpit of a Corsair fighter for a battle over the Pacific and then take a spin on their state-of-the-art hang glide simulator in the Fun with Flight area.

Located in Polk City, FL, Fantasy of Flight is conveniently located between the Orlando International Airport and the Tampa International Airport.

ThisISPaintball.ca Article Written By Kyle Muffty

Finally, a mix of hand-picked AXBL players from both Eastern and Western conferences were chosen to compete in the All-Star match of the season. The event took place at Paintball Quest in Sodus, New York, a field that the players where already familiar with from the previous event. It was quite the start to a weekend of paintball. Each team started by having their names called out, lining-up in order. Following this was a get-it-up chant to see which team was in favor, the outcome was clearly Eastern. Then just minutes before the first point of the match, a pod-toss was thrown out to all the players and spectators in the crowd. Intensity and excitement was in the air, along with both teams fired-up and ready to play.

The first point was taken by Western. Surprisingly, the next three were also scored before Eastern even scored their first. The crowds were second-guessing their final score picks at this point by a lot. By half-time the score was 7-2 for Western. Buddy Baur was bringing his team towards the win, unfortunately for Dan Zaleski, captain of Eastern. Back and forth, points were taken and lost. Eastern finally had a minor comeback in the match, scoring a few back-to-back points. It just wasn’t enough with Westerns 5 point lead, leaving the final score of the match 11-6 for Western. Nonetheless, both conferences proved to have some truly talented paintball players. Good job guys!

More big news was released from Bronx Hate in the MXL division. After both their wins against Team No Name and Baltimore Inflict, they were now guaranteed the AXBL spot for next season. It was a difficult season of hard work and grinding through the trenches, but clearly their efforts brought them on top. Congratulations to a job well done!

Sunday brought out more amazing matches. Attica Intent laid a beat down on Somerville Crisis with a final score 16-5. The same went for Philadelphia All American Heroes as they made a statement with their 17-3 score on Binghamton Blackout. Binghamton Blackout managed to squeeze in a win later that day against Wellsville Express with a final score of 9-8. Rockland Hustle was able to win their only match of the day against Sodus Predators with a final score of 11-6. These matches will be making or breaking a few teams and their standings. Hopefully it’s something enough for them to make back at the All American Paintball Park just a month away.

The weekend of paintball couldn’t have been better. Even the weather that was calling for showers of rain, turned out to be clear, sunny skies. Thanks go out to BuyPBL, DXS, VForce, Smart Parts, Sup Airball, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and FantasyPB for making this event what it was. Good-luck to everybody and see you at E4!
